Painted Metal Art

I have finally finished my latest craft project. This piece is made of metal and used to hang in M’s grandma’s house. I decided to give it a new life. There is the before photo.

Kiwi Co Crate: Stethoscope

Today we did one of the activities from A’s kiwi co box. Her theme this month is about Bodies. We started off with the story & then let her choose which of the 3 projects she wanted to make today. She choose the stethoscope.

It was fun watching her figure out what parts went where & then continue to try on the difficult parts for assembly.

As soon as they finished making it they got right to trying it out.

Which of course lead to them playing Dr. 🙂

Kiwi Co Crate: Rainbow Pillow

The kids were given a subscription to Kiwi Co crates as birthday gifts. One is set for S’ s age, & one for A’ s age. My favorite thing so far is watching them work together on the projects.

The first one we did was all about rainbows. This was fitting as we just saw a big double rainbow the day before. The crate starts off with a short story about the topic. Then it explains fun ways to create your own rainbows.

Next we started with our first project. (There are 3 main projects in each box.) Today this was creating a cloud/rainbow pillow. They provided a soft white cloud with a small opening on the bottom. Next they provided half circles of felt of decreasing size of all the colors in the rainbow. The felt had strong sticker adhesive on the back. A & S did a great job of taking turns when putting the colors on. Then it was time to stuff the pillow through the small opening. And to close it up there was strong Velcro. (I will go back later & sew it closed.)

S was so excited about this pillow he carried out around & slept with it for several days straight! We are excited to try the other projects!

Note: the only thing I would change is instead of Velcro close it the way Build A Bear sews theirs up.
