So I’m sure after our crazy 30″of snow (Remember I am in Northern Virginia.)most people were not excited to wake up this morning & see more of the white stuff. But A was THRILLED! (I have to admit I also loved it & decided I couldn’t wait to get out there with my camera).
So after breakfast we headed out. A was excited to shovel and sweep!
SKILLS: Love of nature, Making own decisions, Enjoying freedom of no expectations, trying.
Snowzilla 2016 has resulted in 30″of snow. So, one of our many snow related activities was to make (and eat) snow ice cream.
We got our snow from the middle of the freshly fallen snow to make sure it was clean. Then added some sweetened condensed milk and a splash of vanilla. Delicious!
SKILLS: Gross motor with stirring. Fine motor with measuring. Patience and taking turns.
Here is the recipe we used. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/snow-ice-cream-recipe.html. (I would use a little more snow next time as it was very sweet).
I had seen a Snow Paint kit at Target for ~$15 and thought that was crazy. So I set out on figuring out how to make my own. For about $3 and 5 minutes we had success!!
We got a spray bottle (really 3 so we could have 3 different colors & to play with friends)from the travel section and filed it with tap water and food coloring. (We tested the color by spraying into the sink & adding more food color if necessary). What a hit this was!
